With all the Single-Wing plays they have been seeing, the Auburn Tigers might feel like it's 1950 all over again. Auburn saw one version of it Saturday night against Florida in "The Swamp," another last Saturday against New Mexico State and another in the second game of the season against South Florida.
Discussing Florida's Tebow Package, Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp stated:
"It really reverts back to the old single-wing philosophy of running the football. It's similar with the number of fakes and pulls and things they are doing. A lot of older things come back into play. They're a power running team with a quarterback that is a power runner," It's an offense that makes it difficult for the defense to outnumber blockers in the box.
Oh by the way, the Tigers have even started running their own version of Single-Wing when freshman quarterback Kodi Burns is in the game.
It's not 1950, but as they say every thing old is new again.
