LINDSIDE -- The Magnolia Blue Eagles had their 9-game winning streak snapped by losing a heartbreaker to No.3 James Monroe 13-7.

Magnolia finished the season 9-3.

The Blue Eagles drew first blood in the second quarter when freshman quarterback Justin Fox connected with Jared Blatt for a 27-yard touchwodn to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead at the half.

After a blocked punt, the Mavs got on the board as Ernie Tincher scored on a four-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7.

It stayed that way until the fourth quarter as Tincher scored again, this time a 64-yard run, and it gave the Mavs their first lead of the game. Tincher finished the game with 138 yards on the ground.

Late in the game, Magnolia senior running back Steve Zajdowicz scored what he thought was the game-tying touchdown, but a holding penalty brought it back.

Fox was intercepted in the waning moments to end the game.

Zajdowicz finished the game with 30 carries for 134 yards. Fox was 8 of 21 passing for 142 yards and two interceptions.
